Tersus Power

Role: Product Designer

Over the last 50 years, scientists have emphasized the importance of reducing our carbon footprints. Gas-powered vehicles release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere daily, contributing to global warming. With advancements in technology, hydrogen-powered vehicles have emerged as a cleaner alternative, producing significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Tersus Power is working to develop modular hydrogen fueling stations to be deployed across the United States. My role involved designing intuitive dashboards that enable stakeholders, including operations engineers and company managers, to efficiently monitor and manage these fueling stations.

Methods

User Research

Early in the design process, we identified that the system would serve a diverse group of stakeholders. Given the wide range of user needs, we decided to implement personalized dashboards, accessible through individual logins, tailored to each user’s specific role. To achieve this, I began by developing detailed personas for each user type.

Collaborative design meetings

I collaborated with two other designers several times a week to develop workflows and brainstorm design concepts. During these sessions, we utilized Adobe Illustrator to create and refine designs in real-time. Working remotely, this approach enabled us to collaborate effectively on a shared design, minimizing the risk of miscommunication.

The Solution

StoryBoards

Our team compiled a list of common use cases and created storyboards for each one as a foundation before designing the screens.

Mockups

Data Heatmaps Page - Designed to enable users to visualize unit performance through heatmaps, this feature provides the flexibility to select from various heatmap styles

Sales Activity Page - designed for users to edit and view bulk sales clients

Executive Summary - Designed to allow users to manage and monitor key metrics for each unit, including hydrogen status, carbon credit status, production levels, sales activity, and carbon credit generation.
