Data Reporting & Student Lookup

Role: Lead Product Designer

The Data Reporting Dashboard was created for Financial Aid Services with the goal of providing users with easy access to all Clearinghouse Financial Aid Services products. As part of this project, I also designed the Student Lookup feature, which can be accessed directly from the dashboard. This tool enables university administrators to view a comprehensive range of student financial aid information in one centralized location.

Methods

Usability Testing

I conducted comprehensive usability testing by engaging with a diverse group of university users through a combination of moderated task-based sessions and think-aloud interviews. During these sessions, participants interacted with a high-fidelity prototype of the Data Reporting Dashboard and Student Lookup interfaces, completing a series of predefined tasks while providing real-time feedback. This method allowed me to assess navigation efficiency, information hierarchy, and overall user satisfaction. The results indicated a strong positive response to the designs, with only minor refinements needed to enhance usability and optimize the user experience.

Dashboard Refinement

Leveraging insights from user testing, we refined the design through multiple iterations to enhance the user flow and overall experience. By prioritizing usability improvements, incorporating user-driven enhancements, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards, we created a more intuitive and effective interface. Ongoing coordination with compliance specialists and key stakeholders was essential in shaping a final design that meets the needs of educational institutions.

Solution

Data Reporting Dashboard

The final design of the Data Reporting Dashboard provides a centralized hub for users, featuring direct links to various Financial Aid Services applications, highlights of the latest features, key school statistics, and essential contact information. This streamlined layout enhances accessibility and ensures users can efficiently navigate and manage financial aid processes

Student Lookup

Student Lookup was designed to provide university administrators with a streamlined tool for accessing detailed student information related to financial aid. This feature enables admins to efficiently retrieve individual student records and review key data points. The interface is structured into four main sections: Enrollment History, Degree History, Student Loan Service Notification History, and NSLDS SSCR History, ensuring comprehensive access to critical student information.
